A migraine headache can cause intense throbbing or pulsing in one area of the head and is commonly accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and extreme sensitivity to light and sound.
Migraine attacks can occur at any time and are debilitating to your daily routine. Symptoms may be triggered by certain foods, stress, sensory stimuli (smells and loud sounds), changes in your wake/sleep cycle, physical factors, changes in environment, medications such as oral contraceptives, and hormonal changes in women.
In contrast to tension headaches, which result from stress or poor posture, migraines are generally more severe in intensity and duration.
While medication prescribed by a neurologist may have reduce the intensity of your migraines, they do not address the physical factors causing your migraine pain. Over time, migraine medication will become less effective.
By treating your physical condition, Forward Head Posture (FHP) oxygen and circulation to the head and neck will improve, thus reducing your pain.
Once a migraine headache diagnosis is made, treatment consists of, Chiropractic Biophysics, The Pettibon System, 3-Dimensional Adjusting stretching, spinal manipulation, and soft tissue therapies such as Active Release Technique, 3-Dimensional Mirror Image exercises, Transverse Cross Friction Massage, Fasial Manipulation, or Trigger Point Therapy to the strained areas.
If warranted, imaging such as x-ray, diagnostic ultrasound, EMG and MRI will be used to rule out any pathologic process.
Specific soft tissue therapies and corrective movements to improve circulation and Forward Head Posture are highly effective at restoring normal spinal alignment and muscle movements and ultimately reducing the symptoms of a migraine headache.
"Migraines since I was 13"
"Now, since my first visit, which was about 5 months ago, I have had a total of 2 migraines and my back has not hurt since."
My name is Jack Ackerman, and I am 15 years old. I have been battling upper back pain and chronic migraines since I was 13, and have always had a slight curvature of the spine. I have been too many doctors in an attempt to relieve my pain, which included: a couple medical doctors, a chiropractor, a physical therapist, and an acupuncturist. Though many of those gave me immediate relief, none of the treatments were permanent. Then, I learned about Dr. Jumper from Renew Chiropractic and in ONE visit he first relieved my current migraine and reduced my migraine occurrence by at least 95%. I used to have a migraine every week which would last for hours, which often times prevented me from going to school and fully participate in my athletics. Now, since my first visit, which was about 5 months ago, I have had a total of 2 migraines and my back has not hurt since. My spine is almost completely straight and I feel great. I can now fully participate in all of my athletics and my grades have increased substantially. I owe this all to Dr. Jumper, he has changed my life, and I have and would whole heartedly recommend Dr. Jumper to anyone of any age because he can and will change your life.
"Constant headaches for about 3 weeks"
Dr. Jumper is fantastic. I was experiencing constant headaches for about 3 weeks ranging in severity with most of the pain stemming from my neck. I chose Dr. Jumper because of his high reviews and the close location to my work. They were able to squeeze me in as a walk in. Dr. Jumper took some X-rays and we saw that my neck was curving wrong. He started a treatment plan that has already helped. I'm not getting headaches as often and the pain in my neck has been drastically reduced, and we're only a third of the way through the plan.
Not only is Dr. Jumper a great chiropractor, he is also a great person to visit. Him, and Vicky, make a point to remember their patients and are genuinely interested in how they're doing and what is going on in their lives.
